Our school is very fortunate to be the centre of a small, yet very closeknit community. Our township offers wonderful facilities, activities and resources to the town and visitors:
Moonie Sports Club
The social life in Moonie centres around the Moonie Sports Club. The Sports Club is also used for Kindy/Playgroup, conferences, fitness classes and fundraising events. The Annual Yabbie Races are held each year on the final Saturday in November.
Moonie Kindy/Playgroup
Moonie Playgroup and Gullivers Kindy provide playgroup and a Kindy program which is held at the Moonie Sports Club. Children under 3 are welcome with their parents from 9am to 11am each Wednesday and children over 3 have the full day.
Isolated Children's Parents' Association
The Moonie branch of the ICPA has been active since they were formed in 1972. They meet several times a year. The Isolated Children's Parents's Association is a volunteer run organisation that lobbies the relevant Government Departments and other educational institutions for equality of access to education for rural and remote students in Australia.
The Moonie branch fundraises to send delegates to State or Federal Conference each year to represent our Community, move any motions which have resulted from concerns about educational matters and find out about the latest educational info. The major fundraiser for the year is hosting a Melbourne Cup Party at the Sports Club.
The Moonie ICPA also sponsors an encouragement award for a student at the Moonie School each year for 'All Round Effort & Good Citizenship' and has supported several pre-service teachers while they have been at Moonie School.
